Fortunino Matania (1881-1963) likewise called Chevalier Fortunino Matania, was an Italian illustrator best recognized for his in-depth and realistic depictions of World War I trench warfare and historical subjects. “The public demanded it,” he when claimed, showing the public rate of interest in his job. Born in 1881 in Naples, Italy, Matania transferred to London, England, where he established his career.
