In my opinion, there are just 2 reasons that Richard Thompson isn’t commemorated as one of the best political illustrators.
The very first is that he devoted the majority of his energy and time to other creative searches– his prominent cartoon, paints, image art, a weekly trick panel, etc.The second is that Parkinson’s disease cruelly burglarized him of his drawing capability while he was still young, as well as he unfortunately passed away at age 58.
Looking back at Thompson’s political animes, it’s clear he was an artist of enormous presents.
Below we see President Clinton delighting the groups with the game, “Soak the Rich.” On the other hand the “Global Peril” video game is creeping out of its container undetected.
| Thompson’s breezy, child-like scrawl is built on a building designer’s solid understanding of the forms he |
was attracting. Thompson’s caricatures of head of states as well as governmental prospects are large verse: Ross Perot Richard Nixon Hillary Clinton Saddam Hussein Rudi Giuliani in an earlier age For his once a week panel, Richard’s Poor Almanac, Thompson composed the text accompanying his drawings: Even his apolitical cartoons usually included creative social commentary: Thompson’s political animations totaled up to just a little percentage of his overall work, yet based on the brilliance of that job, Thompson continues to be firmly among my favored political illustrators.
