Did you know there was a cult in Star Wars obsessed with replicating the effects of the Force through various pieces of technology? So far we only know about one dark side artifact they’ve created called the Thought Dowser. Any person could pick it up and use it to command the mind of another. As far as we know, the Ascendant are no longer around and have been extinct for hundreds of years, at least. They were supposedly wiped out by both ancient Sith and Jedi, because both groups saw the Ascendant as a threat.
