1923 Voison Automobiles: In 1923, Gabriel Voisin, the deluxe car producer, commissioned Loupot (that had simply gone back to Paris after years in Switzerland) to develop a pair of posters promoting his autos. The results are 2 drastically different images. This poster is minimalistic, with a little red automobile versus what is basically an all-white history. The second image is the specific reverse – a colorless vehicle starkly highlighted versus a vividly-drawn, verdant woodland depicted in a Cezanne-esque style (See Swann sale 2449 Lot 97). The effect these two photos had was such that R.L. Dupuy, the head of a famous Parisian ad agency at the time, mentioned that the posters “went down like 2 rocks in the frog-pond of the advertising creativity”
